Dubai: The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced the introduction of a photographic competition to commemorate the start of Expo 2020 Dubai, with prizes including cameras and passes to the world’s largest show.
The contest has been divided into three phases to make participation easier for the general public.
Phase I launched in October will commemorate Public Transportation Day. It will encourage people to use public transportation as their primary mode of transportation to get to the Expo site. The excursion includes a ride on the Dubai Metro’s Route 2020 and Expo Riders.
Participants will be expected to photograph the city’s landmarks and interesting places while traveling to the Expo venue in the contest’s second phase in November. The developed road networks, flyovers, and service roads are the focus of this phase.
The third phase of the photography contest will begin in January and will be the last stage of the competition. It concentrates on open-to-the-public tourism attractions where visitors can take cultural excursions and enjoy visiting squares and world-class shopping complexes.
The event, which will be promoted through social media, will promote the Expo’s hosting and urge people to take public transportation as much as possible. Several social media influencers will participate in the event by announcing each phase on their social media networks.
“The contest is based on filming a video clip or taking pictures during the journey to Expo site using Route 2020, and sharing the video clip or photos through the hashtags #EnRouteExpo2020. Participants can also broadcast the content submitted through @canonme and @rta_dubai accounts. Among the key conditions of the contest, the photo has to be genuine and captured by a portable camera without using a selfie stick, or photographic flashlights, to respect the privacy of passengers and abide by the rules of transportation. In regards to the prizes, winners will be presented with cameras and passes to enter the Expo,” said Rowdah Al Mehrizi, director of marketing and corporate communication, corporate administrative support services sector at RTA.
Canon Middle East and Keolis-Mitsubishi Heavy Industries have collaborated to launch the contest. The six-month mega event will begin on 1st October, 2021, and will draw millions of tourists from all over the world.
