Dubai:The key cast & crew, of Malayalam action – comedy Thallumaala were in Dubai to promote their film on the 7th & 8th of August.
A roaring public event held at Dubai festival city mall which saw more than 5000 people come out to see their favorite Mollywood stars was followed by a press conference held at VOX Cinemas, City Centre Deira. In attendance were Tovino Thomas, Kalyani Priyadarshan, Shine Tom Chacko, writer Muhsin Parari and producer Aashiq Usman.
The lead cast & crew emphasized that this is a light-hearted film full of fun and color, that will get theatres back to run at full capacity and rope in audiences.
Thallumaala, literally translating to “Chain of Fights”, is a Malayalam action-comedy, based on exaggerated reality.
Directed by Khalid Rahman and co-written by Muhsin Parari and Ashraf Hamza, the film stars Tovino Thomas, Kalyani Priyadarshan, and Shine Tom Chacko in lead roles.
The film features several gripping action scenes that are said to be inspired from real-life events that occurred in the lives of Director Khalid Rahman, Cameraman Jimshi Khalid, and actor Lukman. Even though the movie is shot in Ponani, the dialect is regional, which is relatable to all Malayalam-speaking audiences.
An interesting fact shared during the interaction was that a big portion of the film’s budget was set aside for the artists’ costumes. The cast even joked that this budget was almost big enough to produce a whole other film.
When asked why they don’t star in Tamil films, both Tovino & Kalyani expressed their keen interest to be a part of not just Tamil films but more pan-Indian films as well, provided they receive the right scripts.
Tovino shared his thoughts on the ongoing theatrical v/s OTT debate, sharing that the pandemic and the restrictions that it posed gave audiences the opportunity to enjoy films in the comfort of their homes. He went on to add that some movies are made for OTT while others, such as Thallumaala are for the big-screen viewing experience.
The film is set to release worldwide on Friday, 12 August 2022. Emphasized that this is a light-hearted film full of fun and color, that will get theatres back to run at full capacity and rope in audiences.
