Unique World Robotics – a Dubai-based robotics training institute, will represent UAE at the First Lego League in Brazil. The winners of this year’s National Title in #FLLChallenge is Starlink, a team of the Lego Robotics expert students of Unique World Robotics.
First Lego League is a global robotics competition based on the Lego concepts and products – that takes place in different countries. Winning teams from each country then participate at the global competition. The 2021-2022 competition involved 88 nations on 5 continents, addressing projects focused on the Cargo Connect theme, or the new needs of logistics, with a jury that includes scientists, researchers and teachers. This year’s grand finale will be held in Brazil.
Unique World Robotics has been playing a pioneering role in promoting robotics education in the UAE and has created to build a set of young talents who are now capable of taking on some of the best robotic teams in the world.
Bansan Thomas George, Founder and CEO of Unique World Robotics, says, “We are really glad by the achievements of our students. The students of Unique World Robotics once again proved that the roots of true achievement lie in the will to become the best you can become. We congratulate the National Champions of UAE in First Lego League!
“With this tremendous win, team Starlink has secured their tickets to Brazil where they’ll represent UAE at the FLL Challenge International Finale. The victory also belongs to their parents, teachers, school authorities and the entire UWR family. I wish them the very best for the international level”
In the season 2021-22, the theme is CARGO Connect– exploring the ins and outs of modern transportation, where students will learn how cargo is transported, sorted, and delivered to its destinations. In CARGO CONNECT teams will re-imagine our global transportation system and explore ways of improving how we access and deliver needed and desired goods, making all communities more connected.
The First Lego League guides youth through science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) learning and exploration at an early age. From Discover, to Explore, and then to Challenge, student understands the basics of STEM and apply their skills in an exciting competition while building habits of learning, confidence, and teamwork skills along the way.
The First Lego League introduces STEM to children ages 4-16 through fun, exciting hands-on learning. Their three divisions inspire the youth to experiment and grow their critical thinking, coding, and design skills through hands-on STEM learning and robotics.
The First Lego League Explore events provide an opportunity for teams to showcase their work, meet other teams, and celebrate. An event can be as simple as a meeting of a team, families, and friends to share what was learned during the season. Larger events offer teams an opportunity to share and learn from one another. Some teams are invited to showcase their work at the First Championship, where teams from all over the world meet, share ideas, and have fun. Due to the non-competitive nature of First Lego League Explore, teams may attend more than one season event depending on the events scheduled in their area.
The Robotics Market Trends is growing in demand due to its core benefits. Therefore, huge investments are implemented by the end-users and governments on the market. The Robotics Market Forecast is expected to register a CAGR of 22.8 percent and a value worth US$214.68 billion by 2030 during the forecast period.
With Lego Robotics, children learn several complex topics with ease, such as STEM concepts, including science (calculating speed, movement, action-reaction), mathematics (distance and measurements) and engineering (building and constructing things, learning how they work together), technology (developing software or lines of code) and many more.
Every year, First League League releases a new Challenge based on a real-world, scientific theme. Starting with Discover, children are introduced to the fundamentals of STEM while working together to solve fun challenges and building models using Lego Kits.
As participants progress into Explore, children will take their background knowledge of STEM and put it into practice as they work in teams to design and build robots using the Lego Education Spike Essential. Once they are ready to move into a competitive setting, they join Challenge and apply their STEM skills combined with critical thinking to work with a team, build a robot, and compete in an exciting, mission-based robotics challenge known as #FLLChallenge.
