Dubai: On Saturday, Dubai’s Burj Khalifa was illuminated with Mahatma Gandhi’s image in honor of his 152nd birthday.
The International Day of Non-Violence is observed on Gandhi’s birth anniversary around the world. His message of nonviolence and tolerance has been remembered by a number of world leaders as well as international organizations. To commemorate the occasion, a number of events were in India and around the world.
Indian Union Commerce and Industry Minister, Piyush Goyal, paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at the Indian Consulate General in Dubai earlier on Saturday.
The Burj Khalifa tweeted a video of Mahatma Gandhi saying, “Be the change you wish to see in the world. #BurjKhalifa celebrates #Gandhi by honouring the father of a nation who’s been an inspiration for many generations.
Mahatma Gandhi was born on October 2, 1869, in the Gujarat town of Porbandar, and was a leader in the nonviolent resistance movement against colonial British control. India was finally granted independence in 1947 as a result of this.
