Sharjah:The 39th Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF) is to take place in November amidst the pandemic. The fair will be held for 11 days starting from November 4th to November 14th at Sharjah Expo Centre. The event organisers informed that the event will take place with the highest international health and safety standards.
The Sharjah International Book Fair is the largest of its kind in the region and the third largest in the world. It is organised by the Sharjah Book Authority. All of the exhibition spaces were sold out in the open registration period from February to September.
Sharjah Book Authority chairman Ahmed Al Ameri stated that the highest international health and safety standards on the exhibition site will be adopted. Also, detailed preventative protocols will be followed to ensure the safety of participants and visitors during the book fair.
He added “This year, the fair will shine a strong spotlight on ways publishers can collaborate to successfully navigate the challenges posed to their businesses, complete projects stalled due to Covid-19, and continue operating profitably in the fast-changing market landscape.”
The decision of going ahead with the fair comes after announcement of the largest book fair in the world, Frankfurt Book Fair to happen from October 14 to October 18.
