SHARJAH: HE Ahmed bin Rakkad Al Ameri, Chairman of Sharjah Book Authority (SBA), and HE Xavier Chatel, Ambassador of France to the UAE discussed developing joint cultural programmes to facilitate the opening of new horizons of dialogue and communication between Emiratis and their French counterparts, and expand collaborative efforts and joint initiatives.
The French Ambassador visited the 39th Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF) on Monday. He met French publishers representatives of local, Arab, and international publishing houses on the tour accompanied by HE Ahmed Al Ameri. They also discussed the role of SIBF in being a force to the global publishing industry during the coronavirus pandemic that posed challenges to publishing businesses and creative industries in both Arab and international markets.
HE Al Ameri explained the many facilities and competitive advantages businesses in the world’s first free zone dedicated to the publishing, printing, and allied businesses. He highlighted the annual exhibitions, events, and cultural initiatives organized by SBA, including SIBF and the Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival, and Sharjah Publishing City Free Zone (SPCFZ).
