SHARJAH: Chairman of Sharjah Book Authority (SBA), HE Ahmed bin Rakkad Al Ameri, received Swedish Ambassador to the UAE, HE Henrik Landerholm on the inaugural day of the 39th Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF). They discussed the prospect of exploring stronger cultural cooperation and exchange.
The two officials spoke about the importance of furthering cross-cultural dialogue to strengthen the relationship between their governments and people. They agreed on the soft influence of nations, embodied in their cultural and humanitarian exchanges, to create an everlasting understanding between civilizations.
A photo exhibition titled AccessAbility – beyond physical environments was inaugurated by the Swedish Ambassador. The exhibition is a portraiture series, that told the stories of 14 specially-abled individuals photographed in Sweden. Eventually, portraits of 14 Emiratis and UAE specially-abled residents were added to the exhibition last year in cooperation with the Special Olympics Team in Abu Dhabi.
The exhibition aims to create dialogue and conversation about specially-abled people and their rights across the globe and share their stories of hopes, dreams, challenges, jobs, families with the larger community, to enable greater understanding and better integration in society. Before coming to the UAE and becoming a Swedish-Emirati project, the original exhibition traveled to 20 countries.
The exhibition will be open until the conclusion of SIBF 2020 at the Sweden Pavilion no. K15, in Hall 6, Expo Centre Sharjah.
