Dubai: Renowned Santoor player Rahul Sharma and his entourage
left the audience spellbound with their soulful music. The Swaralaya Symphony on
Strings event held at Emirates Theatre in Dubai on May 7, 2023, was a tribute
concert to honour the legendary musician, late Pandit Shivkumar Sharma.
The audience was captivated by the soothing sound of the Santoor, beautifully
complemented by the other instruments, including the table, tanpura and keyboard.
The music was enchanting and mesmerising, transporting the audience to a world of
pure bliss and relaxation.
Pandit Rahul Sharma's performance was a testament to his talent and mastery of the
Santoor. His entourage complemented his performance with their expertly crafted
melodies and rhythms.
Pandit Rahul Sharma's performance truly reflected his passion and dedication to his
art. His musical prowess and ability to connect with the audience made for an
unforgettable experience that will be cherished for years.
Legendary musician Pandit Shivkumar Sharma dedicated his life to promoting the
Santoor, a classical instrument from Kashmir. His untiring efforts made the Santoor
an exotic instrument in the last century. He passed away in May 2022, leaving a rich
legacy in the hands of his son Rahul Sharma.
Commenting on the concert, the organiser Jyoti Easwaran, said, "We were privileged
to host this heartfelt tribute to one of the most influential and distinguished figures in
Indian music. Exactly one year since the day of tragic passing, we aimed to honour
the treasured memory of Pandit Shivkumar Sharma and keep his memory alive in
the hearts of music lovers."
