Dubai:Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has successfully installed solar energy systems at 22 of its buildings, reinforcing its commitment to environmental sustainability and clean energy adoption. The initiative supports RTA’s Zero-Emissions Strategy 2050 and aligns with Dubai’s Clean Energy and Integrated Energy Strategies. The solar systems are expected to generate 32 million kilowatt-hours annually, reducing carbon emissions by around 10,000 tonnes each year.“The project reflects Dubai’s vision for sustainable development and reducing the carbon footprint,” said Shaikha Ahmad Al Shaikh, Director of Buildings and Facilities at RTA.The installations span 16 key facilities, including bus depots in Al Quoz, Al Khawaneej, and Al Rowaiyah, bus stations in Al Satwa and Oud Metha, and metro depots. Energy output is monitored in real-time via DEWA’s Shams Dubai Calculator to ensure optimal performance.
