Duba:Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed 40% of its AED 550 million nol digital payment system upgrade, transitioning to an advanced account-based ticketing (ABT) system. The project, set for full completion by Q3 2026, will enhance public transport payments with new technologies, including QR codes, digital wallets, and biometric authentication.His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, RTA’s Director General, stated that the upgrade will allow users to link nol cards to digital accounts, manage balances, and use nol for retail purchases. The system will also introduce flexible fare payments and seamless multi-modal transport integration.Launched in 2009, the nol system continues to evolve, offering smarter and more versatile payment solutions across Dubai’s transport network.
