Dubai,: Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has introduced LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) technology to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of road asset assessments. The new system achieves up to 95% accuracy and enables daily inspection of up to 80 km of roads, a 96% improvement over traditional methods.Integrated with digital twin platforms, the technology supports predictive maintenance and improves traffic safety by allowing high-speed, non-intrusive assessments of road assets, including lighting poles and traffic signals.Hussain Al Banna, CEO of RTA’s Traffic and Roads Agency, said the initiative reflects RTA’s commitment to digital transformation and long-term infrastructure sustainability, aligning with Dubai’s smart city vision
