Duba:Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), in partnership with Dubai Holding, has awarded a contract for the construction of a landmark AED 786 million bridge connecting Bur Dubai to Dubai Islands. Spanning 1,425 metres with four lanes in each direction, the bridge is designed to handle up to 16,000 vehicles per hour and includes a dedicated pedestrian and cycling path.
Positioned between Infinity Bridge and Port Rashid, the structure will rise 18.5 metres above Dubai Creek, ensuring a 75-metre-wide navigational channel for marine traffic. The project is part of the wider Al Shindagha Corridor Development, aimed at drastically reducing travel time and supporting over a million residents across the emirate. This bridge is the second major access point for Dubai Islands, following the completion of three key bridges in 2020. The broader AED 6 billion agreement with Dubai Holding also includes traffic upgrades in 15 other areas across Dubai, enhancing connectivity and reducing travel times significantly.According to RTA Director General Mattar Al Tayer and Dubai Holding CEO Amit Kaushal, the initiative is a vital step in building future-ready communities and boosting the city’s infrastructure in line with Dubai’s long-term urban development goals.
