Kuwait: The Organisation of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC) announced on Monday that natural gas demand in the wider Arab region is growing at its “fastest” rate ever, at a stable annual rate of 4.8 percent.
According to KUNA, the region’s gas demand exceeds global demand by more than twofold, making it the world’s second fastest growing region behind Asia-Pacific. Power generation accounts for 52% of overall consumption in the region, with energy transformation plans relying mainly on LNG import projects.
It promoted the benefits of increasing LNG output in terms of boosting energy efficiency by upto 39% as part of efforts to minimize reliance on oil and petroleum products.
