Manga Magic Unfolds at SCRF 2025 Drawing Workshop

Sharjah:Creativity came alive at the Comic Corner of the Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival (SCRF 2025) as young participants explored the art of Manga drawing during a hands-on workshop hosted by SkillDeer.Led by instructor Jay Cortez, the session introduced children aged eight and above to the basics of the popular Japanese illustration style. Over 30 minutes, budding artists learned how to shape expressive characters, starting with simple features like eyes and eyebrows.“Art is a powerful way to express emotions,” said Cortez, encouraging children to reflect their moods and ideas in their creations. One standout piece featured a teen’s alien-themed character with spiky hair and glowing green accents.Workshops like these continue to nurture artistic exploration at SCRF 2025, which runs until May 4 at Expo Centre Sharjah.
