DUBAI: H.H. Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) and a member of the Dubai Council, wrapped off a series of meetings with important UAE-based journalists to discuss the future of Dubai’s Cultural and Creative Industries (CCI).
At the UAE Pavilion at EXPO 2020, H.H. Sheikha Latifa hosted top representatives of UAE-based local and international media outlets for two days. She addressed during the sessions about the CCI sector’s future, its importance as a driver of economic growth, and Dubai’s newest steps to build this sector’s infrastructure as part of the UAE’s overall strategy.
The importance of the media in raising awareness and sharing key stories about this sector, which has a direct impact on the nation’s economy, was also discussed. The sessions resulted in several major proposals, including the establishment of Dubai Culture’s official social media accounts as an official source for updates on the city’s creative and cultural sector, as well as a source for inspiring stories about the business.
The meeting also discussed the importance of the media in providing a compelling narrative on the sector; holding similar recurring meetings with H.H. Sheikha Latifa, particularly during the peak period of the Dubai arts and culture calendar; and continuing support for the media in showcasing and telling the stories of the city’s talented creatives. These gatherings are the most recent in a series of meetings Sheikha Latifa has held with key players, institutions, and stakeholders in the Cultural and Creative Industries across Dubai and the UAE over the last few years in order to maintain an open dialogue about the sector and ensure its long-term viability.
