DUBAI: Kyrgyzstan celebrated its National Day at Expo 2020 on Tuesday with an impressive line-up including a state dance performance featuring the music and traditions of the mountain ranges, as well as a flag-raising ceremony at Al Wasl Plaza.
His Excellency Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, UAE Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence and Commissioner General of Expo 2020 Dubai welcomed His Excellency, Akylbek Zhaparov, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic.
His Excellency Sheikh Nahayan, said: “Under the theme, ‘So Much to Discover’, Kyrgyzstan’s pavilion promotes the country as a place of rich historical and cultural diversity, as well natural beauty, through symbolic content, such as the Yurt, which is a traditional tent that has been part of Kyrgyzstan’s identity and nomadic way of life for centuries.
“At the pavilion, visitors are invited to immerse themselves in Kyrgyzstan’s rich nomadic traditions and customs, which are based long-cherished values of pride, benevolence, and community. The pavilion also sheds light on a forward-looking Kyrgyzstan, one that has achieved a lot in relation to innovation, knowledge, and socio-economic development, which it is sharing with the world through the Expo 2020 platform.”
His Excellency, Akylbek Zhaparov, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic said: “Our country has a thousand-year history of unique nomadic culture and centuries-old traditions. Back in ancient times, the Great Silk Road ran through the territory of our land, uniting people of different languages and beliefs. The Great Silk Road ran to transport knowledge, ideas, [and] cultures that significantly influenced the history and development of the civilisations of the Eurasian nations. At all times knowledge and science have been the drivers of rapid changes…
“Nowadays the development of the knowledge-based economy, based on creative ideas necessary in a highly competitive and rapidly changing economy, is becoming relevant all over the world. This is evident at Expo 2020 which brought together remarkable, innovative and technological projects for more than 190 countries of the world, and the main topic, ‘Connecting Minds, Creating the Future’, carries a deep symbolism, a reminder to humanity that only through joint work and cooperation it is possible to move forward. Kyrgyzstan is always open to trusting and mutually beneficial cooperation with countries both near and far.”
After the speeches, the prestigious Toktogul prize-winning Kyrgyz folk ensemble, Kambarkan, joined the Ak Maral state dance troupe in a cultural performance. Playing national melodies on traditional instruments, the artists showcased the music of the mountainous Ala-Too region.
Located in the Opportunity District, the Kyrgyzstan Pavilion illustrates the natural beauty of the country, and its motivated, educated population. It reveals the economic and tourism potential, and how Kyrgyzstan is leveraging the development of innovations, knowledge and the widespread use of information technologies. The history, traditions and cultural heritage of the Kyrgyz people are on display, and there is the chance to purchase unique souvenirs made from various environmentally-friendly, natural materials.
National and Honour Days at Expo 2020 Dubai are moments to celebrate each of our 200-plus International Participants, shining a light on their culture and achievements, and showcasing their pavilions and programming.
Running until 31 March 2022, Expo 2020 has invited visitors from across the planet to join the making of a new world in a six-month celebration of human creativity, innovation, progress and culture.
