ABU DHABI: At the 28th annual World Travel Awards, Abu Dhabi received four outstanding awards in appreciation of the emirate’s efforts to position itself as a premier worldwide tourism destination.
The Awards, which are considered the highest in the area of tourism, reward and celebrate achievement across all sectors of the international travel and tourist business, with travel industry professionals, media, and consumers voting for what they think to be the best in the world.
The UAE capital continues to improve its place on the world tourism map thanks to the efforts of the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi), as well as strategic relationships with a number of companies. The diversity of Abu Dhabi’s tourism offering contributed to the emirate winning awards for “Middle East’s Leading Business Travel Destination 2021,” “Middle East’s Leading Marketing Campaign 2021,” “Middle East’s Leading Sports Tourism Destination 2021,” and “Middle East’s Leading Wedding Destination 2021,” among others. The ‘Leading Business Travel Destination in the Middle East 2021’ recognizes Abu Dhabi for hosting a diverse range of top-class, worldwide business events that allow visitors to network with well-known figures from around the world.
The second award, ‘Middle East’s Leading Marketing Campaign 2021,’ was given in recognition of the engaging and outstanding ‘It’s Always Summer in Abu Dhabi’ campaign, which provided residents and visitors with a range of thrilling activities and unmissable events. The third award, ‘Middle East’s Leading Sports Tourism Destination 2021,’ is a prestigious honor bestowed on Abu Dhabi for hosting some of the world’s most prestigious sporting events, including the Formula One Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, the Mubadala World Tennis Championship, and UFC Fight Island events, among others. The fourth award, ‘Middle East’s Leading Wedding Destination 2021,’ honors Abu Dhabi’s stunning locations and unmatched hospitality, making it the top choice for couples planning their wedding.
