Dubai: India will go all out for Expo 2020 Dubai, with high-level ministerial visits scheduled over the course of the six-month event.
On Wednesday, a high-level team from India met with Reem Al Hashimy, the UAE’s minister of state for international cooperation and director-general of Expo 2020 Dubai, to express India’s strong commitment to participation in the event.
S. Kishore, Additional Secretary, Department of Commerce and Commissioner General for India, and Pawan Kapoor, India’s Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, led the Indian team.
Along with other top government officials, the delegation included Dr. Aman Puri, India’s Consul General in Dubai, and Dilip Chenoy, Secretary-General of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI).
Al Hashimy discussed the special friendship between India and the UAE, emphasizing how the two partners aided each other during the pandemic’s difficult moments.
Kishore reassured her that India’s involvement at Expo 2020 Dubai is being closely monitored and prioritized at the highest levels, and that India is completely committed to a large-scale participation. Ambassador Kapoor praised the UAE government’s fortitude and success with the Covid testing and immunization program, which has allowed them to confidently approach Expo 2020 Dubai. Ambassador Kapoor further emphasized the importance of removing the ban on vaccinated Indians returning to the UAE as soon as possible.
The two sides also addressed vaccine approval developments in India and the UAE, and praised technological interoperability discussions between India’s Co-WIN App and the UAE’s Alhosn App.
The delegation also paid a visit to the India Pavilion to examine the progress. The India Pavilion, which is located next to the Opportunity area in Al Forsan Park, began building in August 2019. The structural and dynamic façade work is now finished, and interior work is underway and expected to be completed by the third week of July. The fit-out and display work are planned to be completed by the end of August 2021, according to a press release from the Indian Consulate.
The high-level team also met with members of the Indian business sector in the UAE to discuss possible collaborations with the India Pavilion, considering the significant potential it provided as part of the India-UAE strategic alliance.
The Indian pavilion is one of the largest at the Expo, with a kinetic façade made up of 600 different colored pieces. It’s built as a mosaic of spinning panels that represent various themes as they move around their axis. It is a one-of-a-kind amalgamation of India’s rich tradition and modern achievements, and it embodies the subject of “India on the Move.”
The pavilion will highlight the country’s achievements over the last 75 years, as well as its cultural richness and ancient relics, as well as innovative technologies and business potential. The pavilion will bring a vibrant and ambitious India to life, from age-old yoga to India’s entrance into space. Mega Diwali and Holi activities will also take place at the pavilion.
The pavilion is divided into two parts: Part A is the India tale, which takes visitors on a journey of discovery and understanding of India, and Part B is the business showcase, which is organized thematically and by Indian states.
