Dubai: Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has partnered with Uber, WeRide, and Baidu’s Apollo Go to expand autonomous taxi services in the city. The initiative is part of Dubai’s Self-Driving Transport Strategy, which aims to make 25% of all trips autonomous by 2030.Pilot operations with safety drivers will begin this year, with full driverless services launching in 2026. The partnership will improve first and last-mile connectivity, enhance road safety, and provide better transport options for residents, including senior citizens and people of determination.“This collaboration marks a major step toward transforming Dubai’s mobility landscape,” said Mattar Al Tayer, RTA Director General.Baidu’s Apollo Go, China’s leading self-driving service, will bring its extensive experience, having logged over 150 million kilometers in autonomous driving. Meanwhile, Uber and WeRide will integrate self-driving vehicles into Uber’s platform, further expanding autonomous mobility options in Dubai.This move strengthens Dubai’s position as a global leader in smart transportation and innovation.
