Dubai: At the Water, Energy, Technology, and Environment Exhibition (WETEX 2021), held at the Dubai Exhibition Centre as part of Expo 2020 Dubai, 55 Italian companies participated, showcasing latest innovations in line with Italy’s National Sustainable Development Strategy to implement the UN 2030 Agenda and achieve the sustainable development goals.
The UAE is experiencing an upsurge in the number of Italian companies attending its trade shows. The Italian exhibitors, in particular, will transmit know-how from various regions of Italy in the sustainable management of natural resources during WETEX.
Italy’s long-standing relationship with the UAE, according to Nicola Lener, Ambassador of Italy to the UAE, includes a variety of areas. Innovation, renewable energy, water solutions, technology, infrastructure, SMEs, startups, smart cities, and the circular economy are all major components of the UAE Vision to construct a future economy.
UAE is Italy’s largest Gulf trading partner, whereas Italy is the UAE’s second-largest European trading partner. In the first half of 2021, Italian exports in the renewable energy industry climbed by 11%. It has even risen by about 4% since the beginning of the global pandemic in 2019.
