ABUDHABI: H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and Chairman of the Education and Human Resources Council, EHRC, presided over the council’s meeting held remotely on Sunday via video conferencing.
Sheikh Abdullah began the meeting by thanking students, parents, teachers, administrative staff, authorities, and educational institutions from across the country for their outstanding achievements during the 2020-2021 academic year, as well as their dedication and eagerness to continue the education process at all levels, despite the current circumstances.
He congratulated the highest-achieving students and their parents on their remarkable performance, which came as a result of their hard work and determination, as well as the cooperation between families and educational institutions during these extraordinary times.
Sheikh Abdullah was briefed on the status of educational authorities’ plans for the academic year 2021-2022, as well as the methods and efforts to achieve a return to normalcy in school classrooms, allowing children to develop their skills and capacities in a safe and healthy learning environment.He emphasized the necessity of following safety guidelines and taking preventative and precautionary actions.
He asked for a concerted effort to convince all government and private educational employees, parents, and children to acquire the COVID-19 vaccine for their own protection.
Minister of Education Hussain bin Ibrahim Al Hammadi emphasized the country’s child protection strategy in educational institutions, which was designed in accordance with Wadeema’s Law and relevant international conventions. The policy, he said, represents the UAE’s and its leadership’s will to provide the necessary instruments and procedures to ensure the protection and wellbeing of children.
He also emphasized the policy’s principles and objectives for creating a safe school environment free of all forms of violence through a series of processes that protect children’s physical and mental health while also ensuring that they meet the highest cognitive, educational, and ethical standards.
The Council was briefed on the implementation of the operating policy for the continuous education system during the COVID-19 period by Jameela bint Salem Musabah Al Muheiri, Minister of State for Public Education and Chair of the Emirates Schools Establishment’s Board of Directors.
The meeting was attended by Hussain bin Ibrahim Al Hammadi, Minister of Education, Jameela bint Salem Musabah Al Muheiri, Minister of State for Public Education, Nasser bin Thani Al Hamli, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation, Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy, Dr. Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi, Minister of State for Entrepreneurship and SMEs, Shamma bint Suhail Faris Al Mazrui, Minister of State for Youth Affairs, and Sarah bint Yousif Al Amiri, Minister of State for Advanced Sciences, Secretary General of the Council.
Sara Awad Issa Musallam, Chairperson of the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge, Dr Abdulla Al Karam, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Director General of the Knowledge and Human Development Authority – Dubai, and Dr. Muhadditha Yahya Al Hashimi, Chairperson of the Sharjah Private Education Authority and Muhamed Khalifa Al Nuaimi, Director of Education Affairs Office at the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Court were among the others in attendance.
