DUBAI: Canon today announced the winners of its ‘Moments That Matter’ photography competition, which is co-sponsored by the Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum International Photography Award (HIPA).
The competition’s goal is to give people a place to use the power of visual storytelling to inspire positive change. It allows contestants to demonstrate what the future of the earth means to them, which is one of Canon’s main corporate pillars and a focus of Expo 2020 Dubai.
The ‘Moments That Matter’ competition is available to photography aficionados aged 18 and up from all around the world with prizes including US$8,000 in cash, gold coins, and Canon equipment up for grabs. Participants must capture and submit five photographs that best exemplify the values of sustainability in any of four categories important to global sustainability issues: economic, human, environmental, and social. The entry categories are separated into four categories: ‘Moments that make us’ (environment), ‘Moments that heal us’ (human), ‘Moments that rescue us’ (social), and ‘Moments that develop us’ (development) (Economic).
Submissions can be entered via Canon’s website. The contributions will be reviewed by a worldwide panel of experts, and photographs from the shortlisted winners will be shown in a virtual gallery on Canon’s website as well as a real gallery in the Sustainability Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai.
