SHARJAH: The global exhibitors and participants expressed delight at the opportunity to partake in their first industry event of the year since March, the 39th edition of the Sharjah International Book Fair being held at the Expo Centre Sharjah, despite the coronavirus pandemic.
Peter Park, International Department Manager, Korean Printers Association said that with the onset of the pandemic, SIBF 2020 is the first and only international event for the year. He said that this is his third year at SIBF and recalled the SIBF in the previous years.
Claudine Abou Jaoude of Lebanon-based Bookeria is well known for her specialized books covering a spectrum of disciplines. She said that she participates in seven book-related events in the Arab world, but Sharjah holds a special place because of the enormous trust gained with a large number of customers here who actively seek out our unique titles each year.
She further said that the opening of SIBF has rekindled hope in the industry. Over 1,024 publishers are exhibited in over 80,000 new titles in more than 30 languages encompassing a diverse array of scientific, literary, and creative spheres.
