Abu Dhabi has issued regulations and penalties for leaving abandoned cars in the emirate in an announcement by the Capital’s Department of Municipalities and Transport.Vehicle owners will be imposed with hefty penalties for leaving their vehicles in public places in a way that distorts general appearance. This includes leaving their vehicles dirty.
The authority has three types of penalties on the basis of the instance of the violation.
Motorists will be hit with a Dh500 fine for the first violation.
In the case of a second violation, they will receive a Dh1,000 fine.
For repeating the same violation a third time, the authority will issue a Dh2,000 fine.Meanwhile, under Law No. 2 of 2012, the authority also stated penalties for leaving a vehicle’s body or frame in public places, which can lead to a distorted public appearance.Vehicle owners will receive a Dh1,000 fine for their first violation.
A second violation will lead to a Dh2,000 fine.
In the case of repeating the act for a third time, motorists will get a Dh4,000 fine.
Authorities in the emirate have run campaigns in the past and issued warnings to motorists who abandon their vehicles.
