Dubai: Indonesia will highlight its role in trade, investment, and tourism at Expo 2020 Dubai, which runs from October 1 to March 31, 2022, signaling its readiness to compete on a global scale. This will be Indonesia’s eighth World Expo appearance.
Indonesia’s participation in the event, according to Didi Sumedi, Director-General of National Export Development at the Indonesian Trade Ministry, is a golden opportunity to promote the country’s trade potentials, investment prospects, and tourist destinations on a worldwide scale.
The pavilion, which will span 1,860 square meters at the Dubai Exhibition Centre, exhibiting a tiny representation of the archipelago is sponsored by Astra, the Oil Palm Plantation Fund Management Agency (BPDPKS), Gajah Tunggal, April, Wijaya Karya, and Indofood.
Didi, who is also the Commissioner-General of the Indonesian Pavilion, believes the opportunity will help Indonesia achieve its goal of becoming the world’s tenth largest economy by 2045, with a 2% market share.
More than 300 export-ready products from local MSMEs, including commodities, handicrafts, interior products, textiles, and fashion items, will be on display in the Indonesian Pavilion.
The Indonesian Pavilion will feature 26 weekly themes and over 75 business forums in a hybrid style throughout the course of the six-month event, with assistance from 22 ministries and institutes, as well as eight province governments.
Indonesia’s participation in Expo intends to attract investments that draw attention to Indonesia’s investment prospects, which range from Industry 1.0 implementation and national strategic projects to industry and tourism-based special economic zones (KEK).
