Abu Dhabi: LuLu Hypermarket, the largest and fastest-growing retail chain in the region and the flagship enterprise of the LuLu Group, is celebrating the 75th Indian Independence with a promotion on Indian goods called ‘India Utsav’.
The festival was inaugurated today at the LuLu Hypermarket Al Forsan Central Mall, Khalifa City in Abu Dhabi by Pavan Kapoor, Indian Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, in the presence of Mr. Yusuffali M.A., Chairman and Managing Director of LuLu Group, and other senior embassy and LuLu Group officials. It is taking place across the Gulf countries.
Indian Ambassador His Excellency Mr. Pavan Kapoor praised the colour and the overall representation of the best of India at the LuLu ‘India Utsav’.
“LuLu Group has truly showcased the best of India with its selection of Khadi, ayurveda and the products of different disteicta of India,” he said, “LuLu has a big role to play in boosting trade between UAE and India as per the directives of our PM Shri Narendra Modi. The UAE is today the third largest trading partner of India and I believe with LuLu’s suport we can greatly increase trade figures.”
A dazzling array of 1,000 product-lines have been specially imported from India for ‘India Utsav’ – this includes stylish handwoven Khadi garments, Indian handicrafts, Ayurvedic cosmetics and medicinal products, items made of coir (coconut fibre), and organic products. In addition, LuLu will be supporting the export of Kashmiri products with a focus on apples and saffron from Kashmir.
In keeping with the fascination for Indian cuisine, India Utsav will feature over 50 kinds of regional Indian foods prepared by LuLu’s skilled chefs.
The festival, which takes place in all the LuLu Hypermarkets across the GCC, also includes attractive promotions for lifestyle and electronics shopping and a promotion on fashion garments and accessories which comes just in time for festive shopping for Onam, the harvest festival of Kerala. The festival will run till August 21, 2021.
The Lulu Group imports over USD 500 Million worth of Indian products annually and this is expected to go up in the months ahead.
LuLu Group Chairman and Managing Director, Mr. Yusuffali M.A. said that ‘India Utsav’ is a tribute to the Group’s strong ties with the sub-continent.
